Kjellerup Skole
At Kjellerup School we are interested in developing our international approach. We are open to all kinds of cooperation. In the spring of 2014 we started an exchange with a school in Ingolstadt, Bavaria in Germany - FosBos Ingolstadt. 6 students came to Kjellerup Skole to act as assistant teachers. It was a great succes and again in 2015, 2016 and 2017 we welcomed 6 young Germans. In 2016 the two schools formalized the connection and signed a letter of intent. We are already looking forward to seeing the next German students in 2018. We feel that the two schools have started a good tradition.
In January 2015 we sent 11 pupils from Kjellerup to visit the school in Ingolstadt. They stayed at host families and made presentations at the school. This was done again in February 2017 as part of an international subject at our school.

At school we are about 50 teachers and 12 leisure time teachers. There is one Head and a Deputy Head and a pedagogical leader. The administrative work is managed by a secretary.
At school there is a Leisure Time Center. This is for children from school year 0 to 4. There is a school club for children from year 5 to 7.
The school day starts at 08.15 am. The youngest children continue school until 14.15pm. The oldest pupils finish their school day 15.15 pm. After the school day has finished for the youngest children the majority of them continue in the Leisure Time Center. The Leisure Time Center is open until 5 O’clock. On Fridays it closes at 16.00 pm.
At present the school has different areas where we are trying to develop and focus on how we can improve our teaching.
-
We work on how we can get more physical movement into classes. We think that many children can increase their learning ability if they have the opportunity of physical movement at the same time. It is also a lot of fun. We are appointed as a Danish profile school for movement and exercise.
-
We work on our ICT skills. We try to think the use of ICT into all our teaching. We recommend that the children bring their own devices.
-
We work on a pre-reading program together with the local kindergartens. In this program we use Ipads. In general we have much attention on reading.
-
We work with innovation and entrepreneurship in our classes.

We are very proud that we have a Chinese sister school. Shijiazhuang Foreign Language School.

Shijiazhuang is situated in the province of Hebei.
We have students from Shijiazhuang visiting us. On a school leader level we have visited Shijiazhuang on a number of occassions. In connection with our cooperation with Shijiazhung Foreign Language Education Group we are also a member of the Global K-12 Education Research Association, which is an organisation that was foundede in 2014 by 32 schools from 12 different countries. The goal of the organisation is to share educational ressources and promoting development. The organisation holds an annual conference.
In autumn 2015 we are for the second time host school for a Chineese guest teacher.
We are partner in an European Erasmus-project where we work together with a school from Rauma in Finland. A school from Moelndal in Sweden, and a school from London in England. This project runs from autumn 14 and until summer 2016.
